Picnic on the Peninsula
Drop by the Canon Richards Tearoom and purchase a Picnic Lunch. If you would like to go back and time and use the old fashion Bread Box that Fishermen used when going to sea, you can experience this. Your Picnic Lunch will be placed in the Bread Box, for you to take to Greenpoint Lighthouse. There will be a $50.00 refundable deposit charged to your credit card and once you are finished with your lunch and your visit to the Lighthouse, you will return the Bread Box to the Tearoom and your credit card will be credited back the $50.00. Bread Boxes are not for sale.
Your day begins at the Canon Richards Tea Room – a kind of cultural home-base for most Peninsula adventures!
Once your picnic has been lovingly packed in a locally-made breadbox, your journey will begin. Guided by a beautifully illustrated map, you can explore at your own pace while a special “NFC chip” implanted in your picnic box will bring your phone alive with the experiences of local residents, helpful histories, and a yarn or two along the way. (A “yarn” is a story or tale, for the uninitiated!)
Pick your perfect picnic spot at your leisure. Will it be the lighthouse, the harbour, Ships Cove, Hibbs Cove, or some other spot that meets your tastes? You decide! And remember, you can purchase your own breadbox and return for a perfect afternoon on the Peninsula at any time. There is always another area to explore, another picnic spot to try out, another yarn to entertain you.
